God's purpose in my brokeness

God's purpose in my brokeness

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Psalms 51:17 ESV

It is hardest for me to approach God when my brokenness is most obvious. Yet God has a purpose in laying bare my brokenness. He does it to bring me to contrition. And in creating a contrite heart within us he also promises to never despise such a heart.

This is the great work of God's grace: to break our pride and lead us in greater dependence and surrender to Him.
